Plasticity of Soils

Plasticity is the property of a soil to undergo large deformations when stressed, without cracking or crumbling, Plasticity is a major characteristics of all cohesion soils and is due to the lubricating effect of the water films between adjacent particles. Information regarding the plasticity of a soil is very important in soil engineering and certain standard limits tests have been prescribed for determination of the same.
