The specific gravity of soil particles is defined as the ratio of their density to that of water. The specific gravity of soil particles may vary from 2.0 to 3.3, but usually is between 2.65 and 2.75. The usual soil weight (voidless) is between 2600 and 2700 kg/cu. m
